The metal passes through a low cost, cast soft, low melting temperature alloy used in metal prototype moulds, facing the porous metal used in the venting insert.


    The choice of metal is based not only on the cost, production and performance requirements of the mould or part of the household product, but also on the knowledge and comfort of the custom mould blueprint and the construction shop. Aluminum has long been the first choice for prototype moulds and is gaining recognition for medium-scale manufacturing moulds.

Compared to standard custom tool steels, aluminum has simpler processing and shorter cycle times, and its cost is related to wear resistance and custom mould durability. Most of the manufacturing injection moulds made for engineered polymers are made from high quality injection moulds. Custom mould bases are usually associated with P-20, pre-hardened to 31-36 HRC, often plated to prevent rust. The specifications of high quality household product moulds, especially the specifications of medical parts, are often specified in 420 stainless steel to get rid of rust problems. Die and stamped steel vary according to manufacturing requirements, processing complexity, custom mould size, mechanical requirements, and the abrasive or corrosive nature of the moulded polyester resin.
